The Art Car Parade is a uniquely Houston experience and one that we thoroughly enjoyed watching this weekend. Thanks to the lovely folks at CNP, we had VIPit Party passes and enjoyed food, drinks, and some of the best sets to be found.
Get ready, because this is a picture heavy post!
Mar had a great seat from Daddy’s lap!
She also enjoyed munching on our passes
Everybody’s favorite, the batmobile
This car, and the one following, were probably my favorites of the parade.
I think I like them so much because they look like such old fashioned toys.
This is “Atomic Dog” – won first place in the Art Car category
One that I am sure will haunt my nightmares for years to come.
The Modor Mobil – won third place in the Contraption category
Stumper – third place in the Participants Choice category
The legs are super cute
Shattered Vanity – first place in the Daily Drive category. That’s one of the coolest things about the parade, quite a few of these cars are seen out and about on the streets.
The Peep Jeep – another personal favorite and another third place winner in the Participants Choice
Old dude in a top hat driving a space bubble car, doesn’t get much better than that.
California Fantasy Van – the Mayor’s Cup winner. All those things on the bottom jingled as it drove around. From afar, it wasn’t really impressive, it just looked like a bunch of mud. But up close, it was super cool.
It would be so neat to see this guy driving down the road at night
Some of these weren’t quite as elaborate as others in therms of artyness, but it had a really neat paint job.
One of several tennis ball themed vehicles
The disgusting, yet fascinating roach car
That’s one big chicken! Fitting, given that Houston allows you to have chickens in your yard with no permit.
Fittingly enough “Cake.” Second place winner in the Daily Driver
Percy Peacock, the tail feathers on this guy actually opened and shut. Second place in the Art Car Category
The Houston Zoo’s entry
Jeffrey’s Oceanic Peace Extravaganza – People’s Choice Winner
Another big chicken
One car you wouldn’t mind being stuck behind in traffic
Makes you kind of want to pet it, doesn’t it?
Another tennis ball theme
And last, but not least, the zebra lady!
The Ping Pong Car!
marion is just so cute in that hat!!
