What a difference a few days can make! This weekend has been really very nice – it still gets hot during the day but is cooling off enough at night to make one feel that fall is around the corner.
So between the change in weather and the fact that Kroger had Gala apples 3 for $1, I made some more applesauce this weekend. I made it about two weeks ago and I was so pleased at how easy and good it was!
The first time I made it, I followed the recipe exactly. It turned out to be a little bit sweet and little dry for Josh’s taste. So this time I tweaked it just a bit and it turned out perfectly! This is the recipe I used. My tweaks the second time around were to double the amount of water, halve the amount of brown sugar and throw in some allspice. (Oh, and I use a lot more spice than she calls for, but that’s just our taste.) It’s really good served warm.
