So posting from my phone didn’t exactly work as I had planned. Mostly due to the fact that I had no cell signal for four days! I didn’t know such places still existed!
Then, when I did have a cell signal, I was too busy having fun to post! Eleven days is a really long time to be away from home with a baby, but it was such a good time and worth any little bumps in the road to be able to spend so much time with family.
Marion was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful on the trip! We had a few sleep issues (pretty much a given on vacation) but despite the fact she cut TWO NEW TEETH, she was just a joy. She learned a ton of new words and new tricks and had so much fun being around all her cousins. Oh, did I mention she took her first steps too? 🙂
I have lots of pictures from the trip (I filled up the memory card, twice) so I’m probably going to break this recap out into several posts. First up, pictures from the river.
We stayed at Gene’s Resort, Cabin 7, on the lovely North Fork River. A fun little bonus was the live web cams; we were able to walk down and “visit” with Daddy, even on vacation!
The mornings were just so gorgeous; there was a heavy fog each morning that lasted for several hours. It made for some gorgeous sunrises (not so great for drying diapers though…)
Because Marion’s schedule was so off, she actually let me sleep in during the morning! Once, almost until 9 a.m.! What a treat that was! Even on the mornings when we were up early (ummm, we saw 5 a.m. more than once) it was worth it to see the dawn breaking over the river.
One of my favorite things to do was to photograph the new spiderwebs that showed up every morning…
It’s not often you can get 20+ adults and children under one roof living in harmony but we managed it for one lovely weekend!
