What a difference a year makes!
They moved the race up a month so it wouldn’t be the humid hades it was last year and since Josh just came off his marathon and was still in long distance shape, he decided to run this race again this year.
It was even more fun this year!
For starters, the camera batteries didn’t die at the start!
The race was is all cross country, so you can’t really see the runners anywhere but the start/finish line. So Marion and I camped out, had some breakfast (did I mention race time is 7:00 a.m.?) and played around for a bit. The race is also a 50K that starts at 6:00 a.m. so we only had about thirty minutes between Josh’s start time and when the first 50Kers started coming in to run their second loop. Marion has recently learned to say “Run! Run! Run!” and had a lot of fun cheering runners on. Unfortunately, there aren’t pictures of her as mama was busy trying to keep her from running off with them! That, and taking about 100 trips to the porta potty. For her, not me!
And nine minutes sooner than last year
Josh crossed the finish line!
And while he got a cool finisher’s plaque
I think this was the best
He could ask for!
