It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been a week since we brought our sweet baby girl home! She’s ten days old already somehow and as Josh and I were talking about the upcoming weeks and what all we had going on, he said, “And then Eliza will be a month old!” Unreal how that happens! So before she gets any older, here are some pictures of the birth of Eliza Jane.
Mama in the hospital bed. Quite a change from last time!
Where would I have been that day without my iPhone?
Being wheeled out of our room to the OR. Again, quite a change from last time!
Always stylish OR gear. Our doula was able to come back into the OR with us and it was so nice having her to laugh and talk with us while we hurried up and waited. Not only did she do a great job in the OR, she kept us nice and relaxed beforehand as well. In fact, I was so relaxed that Lydia and Josh thought something was wrong when I was in the OR getting my spinal. All they could hear was the nurses and me just laughing!
Could the difference be any bigger than with Marion? This photo makes me laugh so much and it’s so much nicer to see the silly look on his face than the worried look he had with Marion.
I hope to (in all my free time, you know) write up Eliza’s birth story one day soon, but in case I don’t get around to it, I just have to say that this is one of my favorite moments. They actually pulled Josh back into the sterile area and let him cut the cord while Eliza was still attached to me. It was really important to me that Josh get to experience such a traditional Dad moment this time around.
One vernix coated baby. No way was she going to be early!
Our big baby girl!

I believe my exact words were “Gimme!”
One of my favorite pictures
This time around, Josh got to go into the nursery while they weighed her and observed her. She wasn’t really happy about it 🙂
We knew she was going to be a big girl, but I don’t think anyone thought she’d be this big!
