Also known as the race that almost wasn’t.
One of the reasons for the delay in blogging is that our house was beset by the most awful stomach bug imaginable the first week of July. It started with Marion and luckily skipped Josh and Eliza, but landed squarely on my shoulders and laid me out for a good three or four days. Marion wasn’t too badly bothered by it, thankfully, but did have to stay out of school for a week. Which left a sick mama caring for two little ones at home all week, not really conducive for blogging!
But we’re all better now and I actually felt good enough to do a 5K on July 4th. The girls were quite a handful (I think Josh would rather have me say that than to say his spectating skills aren’t as good as mine!) so no pictures of mama 😦
Does that look like the face of a baby that would be a handful?
The girls have gotten quite adept at eating breakfast at start/finish lines
That is, when they decide they want to eat
Okay, so maybe she does look like a handful…
And we’re blaming her for the fact my race t-shirt never made it home with us.
But that’s okay, right? Who needs a t-shirt when you have great pro race photos instead!
Yeah, out of the approximately eleventy billion photos the race photographers took, this is the only one that I was in at all. By the way, I’m not the girl in the center of the photo.
Oh well, I finished in a respectable 30:55. Not a PR, but post stomach virus, I’ll take it!
The next race we have planned isn’t until the end of August when Josh has another sprint triathlon he’s doing. Things will pick up a bit in September when it cools off here (all relative of course) and things will really, really pick up in 2012 as I’ve set an ambitious goal of 12 races in 2012 (one a month), including a half marathon in Alaska!
